Voluntary Evacuations To Be Lifted Near Basin Complex Fire
The last piece of the containment line burned out Thursday in the Basin Complex Fire, tying in the containment perimeter and allowing the Monterey County Sheriff's Office to lift all voluntary evacuations and road closures tonight at 6 p.m.

On July 24, 2008 the Gonzales Police Department arrested Craig Ross Dinwiddie, 52 years old, of Gonzales on charges of possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, annoying a child and possession of marijuana.
Fasting to end gang violence continues in the Central Coast
It’s been five days since Mayor Dennis Donohue started a fasting campaign to end gang violence in the city of Salinas. The Mayor is only eating one meal a day and says he's doing well. Pastor Frank from the East Salinas Family Center estimates as many as 5,000 people are fasting for peace, not just in Salinas but through out the Central Coast and in other states.
Boy Scout Camp Damaged in Basin Complex Fire
Camp Pico Blanco, the oldest Boy Scout camp along the Central Coast, has not escaped the damage caused by the ongoing Basin Complex Fire. Located adjacent to the Los Padres National Forest, the 800 acre camp provides year-round camping opportunities for thousands of youth from across central and northern California each year.
